That’s really cool. I was sort of surprised to see the stars attached rather than embedded in the layers but I guess a lot of early flags (sewn) have stars sewn on...

How is the flag going to be supported, it seems like it would put a lot of bending moment on the flag pole...

Here’s some Day 2 pictures of the world record US flag build attempt at the 2005 OC Fair. Stripe #7 is the first to have the blue union (sometimes called the canton) and stars. To precisely locate the star centers, we used a horizontal measuring (...) (19 years ago, 17-Jul-05, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX) !
