Heres some Day 2 pictures of the world record US flag build attempt at the 2005
OC Fair.
Stripe #7 is the first to have the blue union (sometimes called the canton) and
stars. To precisely locate the star centers, we used a horizontal measuring
stick to locate the columns for either 6 or 5 star rows as required and a set of
vertical measuring sticks to locate the rows. The green and white bricks are the
master pattern for the flag. Club members followed the pattern to produce a 6
brick high starter course for each stripe. Visitors added the remaining 10 rows
of bricks per stripe.
The vertical measuring sticks, color coded and labeled (the stick for stripe #9
is in use).
Over exposure has Canadiam member Jeff Elliott seeing red, white, and blue.
With stripe #9 in place, the overall effect is apparent.
Day 2 comes to a close. When the sun goes down, the flag will be properly
illuminated for nighttime display.
Check the SCLTC website for more
pictures.
Goal for Day 2: 5 stripes and no sunburn.
Actual accomplishment: 6 stripes, 1 starter course, and some sunburn.
Tune in tomorrow for the final chapter!

How is the flag going to be supported, it seems like it would put a lot of (...) (19 years ago, 17-Jul-05, to lugnet.trains.org.scltc, FTX)
