I'm not Steve either but I did meet him (and three other members of PNLTC -
Dwayne, Kim, Dave) last night here in Portland. Lots of great conversation,
including the subject of the proposed list.

Pairlist (which is is based on MailMain) has a number of controls over the
ability to post to the list. The list that I have created only allows
members to post to the list. Any post my a non-list member gets held and
sent to the list admin for approval. The list admin can either reject it,
approve it, or defer it (although I am not sure what value derferal is).

Based on the conversation we had last night, I completely support what Steve
is trying to do. I will let Steve comment (or not, his decision) on the
overall objectives of the list but I do believe it is necessary and in the
long run, will benefit the vast majority of us (no matter what you do
someone will always be unhappy).

| (...) I'm not Steve. But I think the idea was that the mailing list would be private... and when LD was to be notified of something, someone would tell them but say they were speaking with the consensus of the group. If LD wanted to say something, (...) (24 years ago, 28-Feb-01, to lugnet.trains.org)
