| | Re: More of the new train
| (...) Already done, I did some experiments using some of the old 4.5v track. (URL) I ran metal foil tape on top of the platic rails. The tape is tin plated copper for use in stain glass. The train motor ran fine. And with the new plastic track I (...) (19 years ago, 5-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.org.it.itlug, lugnet.parts, FTX)

| | Re: Seven wide Koef Shunter
| (...) I've enough 9v stuff to keep me going for a bit but I take your point regarding the IR trains - difficult but not impossible in 7-wide. I also look on 7-wide as a wide 6-wide. I've seen some very convincing MOC examples and note that you can (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

| | Re: New Trains and BBB Wheels? (was: Re: Still more)
| (...) That would seem to be correct, but you're forgetting that if you put big wheels on the battery motor, and connect it to a 9V motor with its small wheels, they'll try to go at different speeds (assuming, as has been suggested, that the motor (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

| | Re: modding the new IR trains
| (...) Might make your wheel spacing awkward, but a good idea. Has anyone tried this with a 9V BASIC motor?. (...) Just putting in some high-capacity NiMH batteries would extend the life from one charge. But, building in a charging socket and circuit (...) | | Re: New Trains and BBB Wheels? (was: Re: Still more)
| (...) Yep, I can only dream that the adjusted the gear ratio in the new motors. The current 9v train motors run way to fast, I'd gladdly trade that for a bit more torque. But even at differnt speeds, the BBB wheels have less traction, allowing them (...) (19 years ago, 13-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

| | Re: Hobby Train - the no future train?
| Lately I have been rather impressed with the bold steps that TLC had been making lately -- Mindstorms NXT being one, the Vikings line is cool and so on. I am also convinced that the adult market is big enough for TLC to be concerned and it shows in (...) (19 years ago, 9-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

| | Re: The New Crane Car & Green Parts
| (...) We may not be able to easily build red 4551s, but I will definitely build a GREEN one! The first two crane cars will probably go into the collection as designed. But then, we may have a good lifting device for a harbor or freight yard or ??. (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

| | SpeedRail TGV Thalys
| Hi all, Ran across some photos of this train ((URL) 1>, (URL) 2>, (URL) 3>, (URL) 4>) the other day and thought it rather neat: a Thalys TGV in different colours. The real thing was to run between Sydney and Canberra but cost too much so never (...) (19 years ago, 22-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.announce.moc, FTX) !
