Re: Hobby Train - the no future train....

(...) This whole discussion makes me long for the early 1990s, when 9-volt trains were in their infancy, and Toys R Us (at least my local one) not only had them IN STOCK, but actually placed them in the same area of the store with OTHER MODEL (...) (19 years ago, 9-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

What I am wondering is if one of the trains is RC and the (...) (19 years ago, 6-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Some more infos on new trains (they were partly presented in Frechen/Germany)

Mike Walsh posted a link on the ILTCO list which has a much cleaner image. (URL) It appears that the dummy engine on the ICE train is 6 studs shorter then the working engine. They used a lt grey curved slope to fill in a gap. A small detail I hadn't (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) I feel compelled to ask; do you really mean "sets" or do you mean supplies of track, switches, 9v train motors, wheel sets and buffer beams, and perhaps track connecting wires and controllers? JB (19 years ago, 9-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

(...) I'm no expert on the manufacturing process but I'd like to know if they have altered all the moulds for the track pieces and the clip-on motor frames. If these are completely new moulds then it shows there is a future supply potential for the (...) (19 years ago, 10-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

(...) To play devil's advocate for a moment - how is the situation different from the conversion from 4.5V to 12V? That needed conductor rails, points, crossing, motor and transformer. In cost terms, including average inflation of 3% for 16 years (...) (19 years ago, 10-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

(...) I am hoping it will be a modified version of the 9v motor. If it is the same motor, then if it runs onto metal track, it's battery will find itself powering the track out through the wheels instead of getting power in through them. (The (...) (19 years ago, 6-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Best way to get into LEGO Trains?

(...) Hi John, I would definitely suggest starting off with 9V. One thing to note is that Lego trains are expensive. There isn't really any way of getting around that yet (see later comment). I would suggest starting off by buying the High Speed (...) (19 years ago, 5-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

Best way to get into LEGO Trains?

What is the best way to get into LEGO trains? I have thought about buying a new set but they are so expensive. I have though about buying a used set off of Ebay but I don't know if they get worn out, or if I will encounter other problems. I also (...) (19 years ago, 5-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)
