  Re: Automated 9V Switch/Points

I notice that there is a Force (or Power, Resistence...) rating on the side the white gear. Are they all the same or has LEGO made different ones? When I tried using the white gear (in many different configs) I could never get the gear to throw the (...) (24 years ago, 24-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.technic)

  Train motor repair-9v

I have an older #5300 train motor that became very sporadic in operation. My diagnosis is that the rubber O-ring tires that provide the traction are throwing out small amounts of rubber that is then being compressed/melted (by friction?) onto the (...) (23 years ago, 14-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Thanks for the work putting this all together! It's good to know other folks won't have to go through the same hours of searching that I did when I was looking for ideas on doing this. :) One minor note: You don't need to modify the switch for (...) (...) Hi William I found out when I ran the train using the Discovery Scout that it just hurtled around the track, then backwards and forwards if I used the pre-programmed commands. I have not experimented too much with the RCX, but thanks for the (...) (20 years ago, 30-Nov-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.robotics, FTX)

(...) (URL) down a bit and you'll see my modified switches--after the mod it does at least 3 things well--you can make up the 'original', you can do the 90 degree turn and you can put switches end to end and have 'em fit 8 studs apart--all with this (...) (...) Absolutly! Dave, I've made several of these for myself and the SCLTC, and they work great. Thank you so much for publishing your mod. We used 7 of these, in various flavours on our last layout. And we'll have at least 4 more in our next layout (...) (19 years ago, 18-May-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: LEGO 7996 and 9V

Jeffrey- Of course, there's the "easy" way: Simply use two motors, linked by a wire, and separated by enough distance to cover the non-conductive gap caused by using a 7996. We have tried this and it works fine (and also improves operation (...) (17 years ago, 10-Jan-08, to lugnet.trains)

  End of 9V train line?!

I've been just at Germans probably best online Lego® shop www.reimann.de . They have already some of the 2001s sets for sale, but I was really shocked, when I found out, that 9V points and crossings are discontinued in 2001! Does that mean we have (...) (24 years ago, 5-Dec-00, to lugnet.trains)

Why Did Lego Switch to 9V?

Ok Peoples, This is one question that i've never really seen addressed anywhere. We all know lego swtiched from 12V to 9V in the early 90's..but why?
