  Re: 12V compatible with 9V

(...) Thank you for your promt answer! What is a step-up/step-down transformer? I am getting the transformer and tracks, but I guess I will use it on the 9V track as I have more tracks for 9V. I think I will try to use the light posts from the 12V (...) (25 years ago, 14-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: 12V compatible with 9V

(...) Beside the whole incompatible wire connector issue between the 9V and 12V lights the 12 V lights will just be a bit dim. I am using some 12V lights on with my 9V system and it looks just fine.   Re: newbie question

(...) TLG started 4.5v in 1966, then added 12v in 1969. 9v was 1991. That was 22 years at 12v (1991-1969), or 17 years if you only count 1969 to 1986 (the release year of 7839 Car Carrier Platform). (...) They made a pretty big deal about the (...) (26 years ago, 31-Mar-99, to lugnet.trains)

  newbie question

Hi all. I've been lurking here for a few weeks, and I've got a doozy here. I've read a few posts where a few people spoke about the switch from 12V rails to the 9V system. I also figure that LEGO spent 12 years at 12V. So the question/speculation (...) (26 years ago, 30-Mar-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: newbie question

(...) Interesting question. (welcome, by the way!) I would speculate that TLG is not likely to change any time soon, because 9V works reliably and looks good. The reason for the change away from 12V was that it did not work very well, and the (...) (26 years ago, 30-Mar-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: putting a 9v motor in 7722?

(...) Well, then perhaps you're going to have to change the internals of the engine a bit to clear the "bogie plate" pin. Many 9V solid frame engines (4563 main, 4559 main) use arches to clear it.
