  9V and 12V train speeds?

If anyone has measured any of these or could easily do it, I'd be curious to know how fast both 9V and 12V engines are, in any load conditions, e.g. motor alone, engine alone, engine with any number of cars; to compare with 4.5V engines, which seem (...) (...) Well, it's in my Dutch catalogue. dunno about other countries. It _looks_ like the 9V graphic next to it in the catalogue only refers back to the length of straight track included with it,. but I'm nor quite sure. Jasper (26 years ago, 11-Feb-99, to lugnet.trains)

(...) While simpler to do by running on 4.5V track, I'd connect, on every motor you want to do this with, the wheel pickups to one of the motor connector and the motor to the other. Thanks for the insight. Just dreaming for future Lego creations. Maybe some person will come up with the motorization schematic? I have a wish that 9v would have more to offer. I was sort of disappointed in the recent catalogue. Kurt :-) (...) (26 years ago, 13-Feb-99, to lugnet.trains)

Just in case no one mentioned it. If you put your 12V train on a 9V track the train is not going to go anywhere; well, not untill it is hit by another train that is! Hello Group! I have been offered to buy a 1986 train set #7745. I have a 9V set to day. Is it possible to use the 12V set on the 9V track with the 9V engine.? Regards Hugo Matre (25 years ago, 13-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: putting a 9v motor in 7722?

The 4.5 V motor is taller that the nub on the 9V motor so any train in which the 4.5V motor fits the 9V motor will also fit. Actually, you will need to add bricks to make the 9V motor fit. When adding a 9v motor to set 7720 I added two 4x4 plates to (...) (25 years ago, 20-Apr-99, to lugnet.trains)
