Steve and Fans of LEGO Trains,

How about we go one step further. How about a World Wide LEGO Train
Association (WWLTA?) with a web site and maybe a news letter. It could be like
a web ring for the LEGO Train Clubs and fan of LEGO trains (ex: NFL.com links
all the team sites). It could have a on site gallery, news and links to all
the LTC’s. This site could sell books and/or calendars to raise funds for
conventions/events. This site would once and for all link all the Train Clubs
as one would wide group. There is power in numbers. We could get LEGO to make
better sets and kits in larger numbers? And who knows LEGO might help with
conventions (ex: location/funds)?

We don’t have to go real craze with all of this stuff at one time. Just start
with the links and MOC’s. Then as we get allot of pictures and ideas we could
have a on-line vote for books and calendars. Later we could organize other
events or group outings. We could spread the work over all the LTC, maybe a
rep from each club. This would give us a way to recognize Clubs and Groups
around the world. This will also help the smaller LTC get moving and give them
a small starter web site. Members of the association could share some
information on dealing with TLC, Greensburg, GATS and others. We could also
give displaying tips to members. We could set some standards for LEGO Trains
(ex: scales 6 wide/8 wide?) And best of all, I think this would bring in more
people in to LEGO Trains as a hobby.

Just my two cents...

Hi All,
I have been thinking about some kind of project based on gathering
images, instructions and/or stories about MOC LEGO train designs (and maybe
structures later). I’m not sure if it’s a coffee table book, a web site, a CD…
maybe a Hall of Fame web site or CD, whatever. In any case I would like to
start gathering pointers to the best works. I was hoping that people could
nominate MOCs and then I’ll setup either a lugnet vote or a small committee.

I really don’t want this to turn in to a competition, it’s really just a
snapshot of the best works to date. So if you are interested please send me
submissions and be specific to an image or page dedicated to the MOC. Don’t be
bashful to send your own stuff! I will keep all nominations anonymous as well
as the list until it is ready to vote on.

Your submission should contain:
Subject line: MOC Nominee “category”  (e.g. “MOC Nominee Steam”)
