James you are right on. And there have been several ideas like this in the
last few years that fizzeled out. And other ideas, like I wanted to do a
nation wide LTC and/or LUG convention, I just didn't have the energy to carry
that foward. But there have been projects like Lugnet, Brickshelf, Pause...
that have made a huge difference in our LEGO online community (didn't mean to
not mention anyone's cool work).

Steve,

This kind of goes with the idea I had last year about some kind of MOC LEGO
Train calendar, it not that I wanted a calendar its just that I thought it
would be cool to have a collection of all the great works people have done.
And it would be even better if it's in a form that can be either distributed
or sold to the public at shows and such. Nice way to introduce people to the
hobby of LEGO trains and inspire them to join us.

I'll have to go through my images and find some images to submit, thanks for
taking on this task.

Hi All,
I have been thinking about some kind of project based on gathering
images, instructions and/or stories about MOC LEGO train designs (and • maybe
structures later). I'm not sure if it's a coffee table book, a web site, a • CD.
maybe a Hall of Fame web site or CD, whatever. In any case I would like to
start gathering pointers to the best works. I was hoping that people could
nominate MOCs and then I'll setup either a lugnet vote or a small • committee.

I really don't want this to turn in to a competition, it's really just a
snapshot of the best works to date. So if you are interested please send • me
submissions and be specific to an image or page dedicated to the MOC. • Don't be
bashful to send your own stuff! I will keep all nominations anonymous as • well
as the list until it is ready to vote on.

Your submission should contain:
Subject line: MOC Nominee "category"  (e.g. "MOC Nominee Steam")
Modeler's name:
Specific URL:
