I do not run my trains for long periods of time, but I have done four motors on 1
power supply. I didn't notice any problems

Nope, never thought of that. If I clean my track I usually just use a rag, but I
do not often clean my track. The track always works so well that I forget that
there may be some dirt on the rails.

I think that you will find that most people use dummy headlights. Adding real
headlights is like adding an extra little treat.

P.S. I do not have that many engine designs (and only one of them is still
together), but you can check out the engines I made at

Only two of them have/had working headlights.
