Yes, that's what I meant. There should be a crossing to connect
switches/points in a dual cross-over setup.

I too would like to see a diamond crossing (that's what I call it anyway) but
that would require a new style of points/switch. The current one curves one
way and then starts curving back the other way, so even if Lego made a diamond
crossing it would look horrible.

By the above I assume Eric means something like...
      / /
_____/_/_____
______/______

where each line represents a track, so it requires two points and a diamond
crossing.

I would like to see Lego make a new type of point that only curves one way
(same radius as current curves) so that a junction can be made on a curve. And
this could be combined with a suitable diamond crossing to do the above.

Also it should allow a crossover bewteen two parallel tracks....
______________
_____/________

You can do the above fairly elegantly at the moment but the tracks have to be
32 studs apart which is much too much [1]. The old 4.5V/12V points allowed 8
stud spacing (i.e. touching) but I'd be happy with 16 stud spacing.

[1] Actually you can obtain 25.91 stud spacing by simply putting the points
back to back but a) that's still too wide and b) the horrible numbers make it
difficult to design nice layouts.
