If they are more than 1 1/2 inches (about 3.75 cm) from the edge of the stud (which is 3 1/2" thick on interior walls) they they need to be protected by a metal plate so that screws or nails (...) Old wiring is two wires - 'phase' and 'earth' - that's 220 (or rather 230) Volts in one wire and 'return' in the other. New wiring, old outdoor or wet room wiring have an (...)
