snipped

Hi Larry & Rob,

I didn’t build much last year, but here i go with a few pictures i posted recently on Brickshelf: Container flatbed car able to carry 2 20-Foot containers or 1 40-Foot container.

Those are very nice cars... do the containers interoperate/interchange with the recently released Maersk Train’s containers? If not, would it be a hard modification?

I don’t know, i don’t have the Maersk train yet.

The 20-Foot container is 6 x 14 studs + 1 for the opening doors.

The 40-Foot container is 6 x 29 studs + 1 for the opening doors.

I only hope now that those dimensions are close to reality regarding the scale.

If not, correct me.

The gray container is build with panels 1 x 6 x 5 to cut on weight.

I’m thinking that it might be time to switch away from the old 4 wide container standard and adopt that one, it’s now “LEGO defacto” standard...

Models are build after pictures i found in a model railroad magazine.

I have now 11 container wagons in the colors green & blue (Belgian railroad - NMBS) and red (German railroad - DB)

(snipped the pics, they are huge (but cool)...)

Here a pair of pictures of my cereal wagon.

Also very nice, the rounded top is a nice effect.

Note: The logo is PRINTED on the bricks.

How did you get that done? In the US, Tommy Armstrong prints things for folks, do you have a similar person in NL?

To be clear, i live in Belgium, but the panels are printed by a verry friendly Dutch (NL) AFOL.

He has a Bricklink shop: http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=fasblok

The idea is to ‘commercialise’ the cereal wagon, but with an other logo.

see: http://www.reynaulds.com/products/Rivarossi/6148.aspx for the logo.

We have one problem at the moment.

As you can see (http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=5182331),

i use panels to cut on weight and have only enough gray panels for 75 wagons where i would like to keep 10 for myself,

so there remain only material for another 65 wagons, and thats it.

Regards and enjoy my little contribution.

I certainly did, thanks for sharing.

Your welcome.

Regards, Ludo
