  monorail maintenance?

I'm coming into the monorail world late and have been acquiring track and parts on Bricklink. I have two motors and both seem to run very slowly. They really seem to labor going up-hill. I haven't run the engines enough to believe I might have burnt (...) (17 years ago, 22-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: LDD - MOC Steam Engine inspired by Streamlined Hudson

--snip-- (...) --snip-- Hi Ted, Just a quick word of warning... I've never tested this one in real life so there's not guarantee the solution I have there works. It seemed to work out in CAD but real life is the ultimate decider. Tim (17 years ago, 20-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: LDD - MOC Steam Engine inspired by Streamlined Hudson

Tony - Thanks for all the great info! (...) That will be #1 on my to-do list... Very nice. (...) I had been digging around the internet, but had not come across Ben's presentation yet. Very, very helpful and great building strategies. Awesome MOC's (...) (17 years ago, 20-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: LDD - MOC Steam Engine inspired by Streamlined Hudson

(...) Well, I'm no train expert, I only started building train MOCs a little over a year ago, but I'll be happy to share my opinions. And the number one thing you should do, in my opinion, is visit (URL). Ben Fleskes, a Lugnet member, sells custom (...) (17 years ago, 20-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Updated Train Shed and Post Office

(...) Thank you. That is exactly what I was going for. Unfortunately, I noticed after I'd posted the pictures that the "bricked in" part should have gone one course higher. Oops! (...) Thanks. I find they really give it an industial look. (...) (...) (17 years ago, 20-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Updated Train Shed and Post Office

(...) Not yet, but I suppose they should be. Basicly, track should be up one plate, ballasted, and 4 studs in from the edge of the base plates, with 8 studs of separation between tracks. We also have curved track clearance standards, but I'm not (...) (17 years ago, 20-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Updated Train Shed and Post Office

(...) I think you did a nice job with this. I really like the back of it where you have the rolling garage door. It makes it look like there was once a taller door for the engine but then they reconfigured it. You've really captured that look with (...) (17 years ago, 20-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Updated Train Shed and Post Office

Very nice. I have not taken my engine shed out of the box yet but I will keep your modifications in mind when I do. You mentioned club standards for layouts but I couldn't find any on the NOVALUG website. Are they online? (URL) VicLUG> is hoping to (...) (17 years ago, 20-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Updated Train Shed and Post Office

(URL) This is an (URL) updated version> of the Lego 10027 Engine Shed. I raised the track 1 plate to comform with (URL) our club> standards, which allowed space for a pit. I also raised the building by one brick. Those door arches used to snag (...) (17 years ago, 20-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: LDD - MOC Steam Engine inspired by Streamlined Hudson

(...) I think feedback on either would be helpful. I'm just starting up my parts collection again as AFOL, so my part availability outside is almost as limited as LDD. Any good recomendations though, and I could track it down in one of the brick (...) (17 years ago, 20-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)
