The trick using NQC is the SetSleepTime function. SetSleepTime(0);
disables the auto shut down.
Hope that helps.

It doesnt help me one bit:-) I am virtually ignanent when it comes to the
RCX; that is my sons domain. Ill pass this along to him, though.
So basically you are suggesting that he program the RCX using NQC rather than
using the Mindstorms software? (if this isnt a basic yes/no question, please
feel free not to elaborate;-)

I have to say that I dont recal if the original rcx mindstorms software uses
this or not; so, if you need that functionality and the original software
doesnt have it then a move to something else might be warranted.
I find the text-based code a whole lot easier to use but Ive been programming
in one language or another since the early 80s. It might be because I can see
the program better, since the guis all have things that disappear when not
highlighted and then reappear when highlighted and I like to look at paper flat
on the desk.
Im not a C programmer but found it easy enough to get NQC to do the things I
needed it to do. I used it through the bricxcc interface. (So, thanks here to
go to, I think, John Hansen and Dave Baum (and others?) for development of these
tools!!)
I know there are other languages but I didnt try them.
I am trying to get NBC/NXC working on my NXT but havent gotten very far yet.
Let me know if *that* helps.
