Re: The New Crane Car & Green Parts

(...) We may not be able to easily build red 4551s, but I will definitely build a GREEN one! The first two crane cars will probably go into the collection as designed. But then, we may have a good lifting device for a harbor or freight yard or ??. (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: The New Crane Car

Yes, the new crane car is quite nice and I look forward to adding it to my collection. Another thing that has been looked over with the new sets is the part selection. While the IR based motor and battery bound baseplate are not ideal, the parts in (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

  The New Crane Car

The new crane car seems to have been overlooked in all the discussion of the possible demise of the 9v system. It (they...at least two) will be added to my collection as soon as it hits the street or S@H. I started to build an ldraw model of it but (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Hobby Train - the no future train....

(...) Got that right. Long live the community!!! Seems like now it may be the only thing keeping 9v from going kaput!! TRAINS!!!!!! M (19 years ago, 11-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Some more infos on new trains (they were partly presented in Frechen/Germany)

Mike Walsh posted a link on the ILTCO list which has a much cleaner image. (URL) It appears that the dummy engine on the ICE train is 6 studs shorter then the working engine. They used a lt grey curved slope to fill in a gap. A small detail I hadn't (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Thoughts on Spy Photos of New Trains

(...) I'm hoping these aren't using the same signal encoding as the Manas- they've already reused those on some IR cars as well. I'd really like to be able to control Mana-powered devices on a layout independently from the trains. And as long as the (...) (19 years ago, 11-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Some more infos on new trains (they were partly presented in Frechen/Germany)

(...) But moving to 9v from 4.5v gave you significant advantages and was an upgrade which added value. The new trains are already good - remote control, sound, cheap track, reverse loop capabilities, cab control etc. so the change to 9v rail powered (...)   Re: Some more infos on new trains (they were partly presented in Frechen/Germany)

(...) I did, I started out with 4.5v, and moved to 9v when it came out. What I don't understand is the decision to produce a $100+ set whith this new technology, as a first kit. I thought the whole point was to produce a $50 set to get into the (...) (19 years ago, 10-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  4W is cute!

Re: Some more infos on new trains (they were partly presented in Frechen/Germany)

If these are completely new moulds then it shows there is a future supply potential for the (...) (19 years ago, 10-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Hobby Train - the no future train....

(...) I should have added that now is a very good time for trains too, but ironically, the good times I am talking about are all the train/LEGO clubs and the still active on-line community. Chris (19 years ago, 10-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Some more infos on new trains (they were partly presented in Frechen/Germany)

(Which, incidently, are amongst the most popular items we (LUCNY) run around the tracks at shows per visitor requests.) Even the (...) (19 years ago, 10-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Hobby Train - the no future train....

(...) Jumping in my way back machine, I remember when they had the battery powered 7722, a station, and a level crossing in the train section of TRU. It was just too cool.   Re: Some more infos on new trains (they were partly presented in Frechen/Germany)

Re: Some more infos on new trains (they were partly presented in Frechen/Germany)

Re: Some more infos on new trains (they were partly presented in Frechen/Germany)

(...) There's still no definite answer. LEGO might not be willing to commit themselves. Think about it - if they said they'll supply 9V track forever, they can't keep that promise. If they say they'll make it for 2 more years, there'll be uproar (...) (19 years ago, 10-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Some more infos on new trains (they were partly presented in Frechen/Germany)

(...) Both. I guess what I'm asking is whether the entire, current 9v train line will be continued; produced alongside the new line of trains. (19 years ago, 10-Jan-06, to lugnet.trains)
