C’mon!, You know I had too!

The 4511 Mechsperiment

Some time ago, I just knew what I had to do. So finally did it.

I used 1 million Mini-figs in this seven foot tall Mecha. It features 780,002 left monkey arms and 425 left white wings.

In this picture, you can see the 8,880, 8880’s I used to make the foot. In the foot, I used half a K8, and 200 xpods. It’s quite long at 4000 studs.

DUPLO worm gear boxes and 85 Bob the Builder sets combine to form the toes.

Here you can see the sum of 2,743 Technic Space Shuttle’s that compose the hand. A Monkey Set finished off the fingers. See how the 79 48x48 base plates stack together to create the wrist. I did that with the entire Aquazone and Harry Potter lines. Plus one Brick Seperator.

The Mech also uses 44,444 Creator Tubs and 52 Battrax’s in it’s elbow. I had a hard time hiding all the ‘burps’ so I figured all the right side arms from the Monkey Sets would help. I gathered up all the Jar Jar figs I had (62,001) and connected them at right angles to form the shin’s.

All in all it was a good build for a two day project. Parts of it are not completed, I still need 68 Monkey Sets so I can get the pneumatics from the Star Destroyer and finish up the back. Notice how the Clickits line the head and chest.

The 4511 Mechsperiment

Let me know how many Dragon Fortress’s you see in the knees!

(...) Dude, stop lying. I counted no more than 750,000 monkey arms. And you're still about 200,000 fig parts short of 1 million. I counted. You're just showing off, liar. Seriously though, coooooool I like that head piece. Fits your style nicely. (...) (20 years ago, 28-Jul-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

(...) Dude, you've got the fever. the Mecha Fever. And frankly, I don't think you should be cured, for if you were, we would never see creations such as this. I really liked the World City train head, and the light-up eyes. Not that Mecha design was (...) (20 years ago, 28-Jul-04, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Great Job Sir Eric. It's always great to see what you do with the good brick. (I wonder if anyone remembers who I am... well, time to disappear again). Oz (20 years ago, 29-Jul-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

(...) snip (...) You did a great job with the (URL) photo> e. It was like a clinic in big-mech joint-tech. I could make out what looked like a worm gear-large gear pairing for the "jumping-jack" movement of the shoulders, throwbot gear boxes for the (...) (...) Nice Mech man. Have you done this before? (...) I'm glad to see you're getting back into pneumatics. I'm hoping to buy a Star Destroyer at BrickFest for cheap. I hear it's got 435,231 T's, 237,465 switches, 4 pistons and 2 2" hoses. Awesome! (...) (20 years ago, 31-Jul-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

You are a crazy mo-fo...all those jar-jar heads and snowshoes...I don't know how you do it. Seriously E, the train/head rocks...you continue to amaze. Another great addition to your mechasylum. -Keith (20 years ago, 2-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

(...) Thanks for shoing that even train parts aren't completely useless ;) I'm gonna be seeing that head every time I look at that train from now on. (...) Two days?! Man, I reckon you could churn these out in your sleep. How else could you maintain (...) (20 years ago, 3-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)
