  Re: Train poster

(...) Yes, they are handbrakes. (...) It doesn't particularly matter- the way that brakes are dealt with on trains now is that they are a fail on device. I think that the hand brake wheel is to take the brakes OFF rather than put them on- I don't do (...) (21 years ago, 14-Feb-04, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Idea for a track power pickup for non motored trains...

(...) Last year I built a tram and the power came from a 9V battery box (heavy, the battery are quickly out...), and it is not very recommended to make circulate a tram without control (just on/off) on a circuit with other trains. I realized a (...) (21 years ago, 14-Feb-04, to lugnet.trains)

  Steam train

Hello! I am back for a short remark:-) I have tried to make a steam engine based on the Danish E-Type using BBB´s wheels and I have to say I am very happy to be able to use these wheels! Tell me what you think as this is my first ever atempt to (...) (21 years ago, 13-Feb-04, to lugnet.trains)

Re: LEGOFan.net - central community run hub for all areas of the LEGO community.

Hello! (...) Well, most AFOLs already have been LEGO fans as kids and - after a periode of neglecting the brick, the so called 'dark ages' - found back to their old love. That means: For the purpose of growing hard core LEGO fans it's necassary to (...)   Re: LEGOFan.net - central community run hub for all areas of the LEGO community.

(...) why not just add a few new links/rearranging the front/homepage of LUGnet to make the central portal for the community? Jeff (21 years ago, 13-Feb-04, to lugnet.build, lugnet.castle, lugnet.general, lugnet.lego, lugnet.publish, lugnet.space, lugnet.starwars, lugnet.trains)

Re: LEGOFan.net - central community run hub for all areas of the LEGO community.

(...) <snip> What exactly does it mean to be "community owned"? Is the site going to be like a WIKI and anyone can change the content? Is there going to be a controlling body (say, for example, of 9 people) who are going to make all the decisions (...)   Re: Idea for a track power pickup for non motored trains...

(...) With my CN engine I found it necessary to put a capacitor across the leads to smooth out the flicker. It worked quite well. I used the kind of cap that didn't have a pos or neg. it could be used both ways. (URL) This worked pretty good for (...) (21 years ago, 12-Feb-04, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Idea for a track power pickup for non motored trains...

(...) Yes is a good idea, but I have two problems, one the schools are on vacation (now is summer in the south), and the seconds is a difficult to find a CNC lathe in our technical school here. But I will try Best Regards (21 years ago, 12-Feb-04, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Idea for a track power pickup for non motored trains...

(...) Yes the LED flickers, a little, and I will do the same with the others wheels, it works and is very cheap. I need to work to improve the electric contact, maybe this weekend Best Regards (21 years ago, 12-Feb-04, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Idea for a track power pickup for non motored trains...

(...) Hi all, To cut back on costs, isn't it possible to let a technical school making those metal wheels on a CNC lathe? It could be an practical exercise for the students (programming the CNC lathe and see the result) and cost effective for the (...) (21 years ago, 11-Feb-04, to lugnet.trains)

Re: LEGOFan.net - central community run hub for all areas of the LEGO community.

[ -> .org ] (...) So what would be available to not-logged-in users? Greatest common factor? From a pragmatic standpoint, that seems like that'll dramatically chop the usefulness of the site -- imagine if Google only showed Kid-Safe-Verified sites (...)   Re: LEGOFan.net - central community run hub for all areas of the LEGO community.

(...) My understanding is that LEGO would like to have a site that they can feel comfortable sending traffic (kids and adults), but which they don't control and aren't responsible for. This site (LEGOFan) could include content (such as offsite (...) [follow-to to .org, since that's where other people seem to be redirecting] (...) It has a really funny "Moderated for safety; Cool!" logo.   Re: LEGOFan.net - central community run hub for all areas of the LEGO community.

(...) Perhaps it is time to have another revolution. After all, LUGNET was at least partly founded as a response to user's dissatisfaction with some problems inherent in r.t.l (one of them , ironically, being that r.t.l was too open a system which (...)   Re: LEGOFan.net - central community run hub for all areas of the LEGO community.

I really don't have a problem with the community trying to set up a web-site and trying to get the community to come together. I agree (with Terry) that saying that a certain site will be the one-stop shop is insulting. The one point I'd like to (...)   Re: LEGOFan.net - central community run hub for all areas of the LEGO community.

(...) YES. Thank you, Jake. I have a problem with being too subtle, so I'll be more blunt: Lugnet is targeted to a particular audience, an adult audience. This is _not_ the ONLY audience interested in LEGO. For those whose online LEGO experience (...)
