    100-Ton Hopper Cars —Brian Stokes
Greatings, I recently completed a MOC of 100-Ton Hopper car. I modeled it after a "Proto 1000 Series" HO scale kit I borrowed from my brother. I wasn't able to get the ribbing to line up in the middle of the car and I think the wheels could benefit (...) (21 years ago, 29-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains) !

(...) Hey, nice work... I like how you managed to get the ribs daintier by going sideways. I think this shot: (URL) is my fave for two reasons.... minifig eye view (looking up a bit) is always a cool angle... AND you've got the train poster in the (...)          Re: 100-Ton Hopper Cars —Brian Stokes
Thanks Larry, I personally like the minifg level shot as well. The pics with cars on tracks were taken at Robert Powell's house so that train poster is the same one seen in his news paper article posted on ILTCO. B. (...) (21 years ago, 29-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Really nice design. The ribs especially are really spiffy, and the green really brings out the detail. I agree with your comment about the wheels. Other than that, cool car. -Stefan- (...) (21 years ago, 29-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 100-Ton Hopper Cars —Brian Stokes
Thanks Stefan, I tinkered around with making the wheels larger but then they interfered with the dumping bays. Adding a spring to the wheels also made them look much larger and out of proportion with the rest of the car especially when I pushed the (...) (21 years ago, 29-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

(...) When you get a chance, can you post some closeup photos, and/or description about how you achieved this effect? Jake --- Jake McKee Webmaster - B.I. Portal (URL) (21 years ago, 30-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 100-Ton Hopper Cars —Brian Stokes
Thanks Jake, I'll take some close up photos this week and post them. Robert Powell suggested that I do the instructions in MLCad and put them on your site which I'd like to do. I'll begin working on the instructions just as soon as I finish my (...) (21 years ago, 31-Mar-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 100-Ton Hopper Cars —Brian Stokes
Jake, Sorry for the delay in posting these close-up pics of hopper car (taxes, a school field trip to the zoo, and exams kept me busy). Anyway, here they are. (URL) basically built the center beam of the car first and everything else around that. (...) (21 years ago, 9-Apr-03, to lugnet.trains)
