  Re: Train Wheel Friction?

(...) I too have been using a sharp knife to take small slivers of plastic out from each wheel block. As a result, there has been a tremendous improvement in the performance of each train. Previously the Santa Fe engine was struggling to pull more (...) (22 years ago, 22-Feb-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Train Wheel Friction?

(...) Well, this is really a different issue, but it seems appropriate to mention it here. In the MOT instructions, it has the the motor as the front bogie, but in practice this causes a lot of slippage even with a small number of carriages being (...) (22 years ago, 22-Feb-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Train Wheel Friction?

I contacted Lego Direct and presented the problem to them stating that there was significant drag on the gray wheel sets. In the course of the discussion the lady (name escapes me) who is the customer service rep for trains was not aware of this (...) (22 years ago, 22-Feb-03, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.lego.direct)

  Re: New Engine Shed

(...) No, Chris... we all like your building! Really! (don't we???) In fact I hear someone is going to copy it! Well, er, they were until they went to BL and saw that there is no dark red left at all! (22 years ago, 21-Feb-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Train Wheel Friction?

(...) My modest LEGO train collection consists of one MOT kit, one Santa Fe Kit (full train, not starter), and one Metroliner kit. These are all sets with the "new" wheelsets. For the most part I think I lucked out with the MOT and Santa Fe. Both (...) (22 years ago, 21-Feb-03, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.lego.direct)

  Re: New Engine Shed

(...) Jake ,send me a copy of the set and I'll use some of my dark red bricks and let you know how it came out:-) You have to admit the building I did looks alot better in dark red then it would have in regular red ...however I have mostly lt. gray (...)   Re: Train crane MOC

(...) Thanks for that. I took a look at your solution, then at John Barnes' solution. If I decide to keep the model, I'll most likely try one or the other. That, by the way, is one fine, compact, extention boom you came up with. In the meantime, (...) (22 years ago, 21-Feb-03, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.technic)

  Train Wheel Friction?

There was a thread several months ago dealing with the issue of the new train wheels rubbing on the blocks. The thread mostly mentioned the problem in relation to the gray wheelsets that come with the Santa Fe loco and cars. However, I've also (...) (22 years ago, 21-Feb-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: New Engine Shed

(...) I don't know if I agree. I think that the regular red was a good choice. If dark red was used against a black roof and dark gray highlights along the side, the whole structure would have looked washed out and dull. Of course, I guess we will (...) (22 years ago, 21-Feb-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Questions about product rotation

(...) Trains follows this rotation less than some other lines do, has been my experience. 4565, for example, has been out for a very long time. I would expect it to be gone sometime soon but who knows? Other parts of the line do rotate out briskly, (...) (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Questions about product rotation

I have questions the more experienced members may be able to answer, especially attendees at BricksWest2003. Do the train sets follow the normal two year product rotations? Will the current set of train cars ( hopper, tank car, etc.) cycle out this (...) (22 years ago, 18-Feb-03, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: New Engine Shed

(...) Thanks Bert, for bringing up this topic into lugnet trains. I have not seen it mentioned anywhere here, but at 1000steine.de/forum it has been reviewed (and - what else? - praised). A really cool train building after the somewhat dissapointing (...) (22 years ago, 20-Feb-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: New Engine Shed

(...) It does look brilliant. A dark red version may be asking a lot, but if I could just drop my own hint... I hope they make an extra lot of those 1x4x5 windows in WHITE, and make them into a service pack. I'm afraid the black ones just aren't as (...)
