When I was down at Legoland, I remember seeing the Coaster and thinking that
would be a really neat train to do. This is much nicer than what I could
have done, though. Great set. If I ever get around to doing the Seattle
area's Sounder, I'll take cues from this- the coaches are the same type.
(By the way, there's a campground near Legoland where the train line is less
than 50 feet from where you lay your head down to rest. That's where I got
a shocking first-hand demonstration of the difference between passenger and
freight trains in terms of sheer sound volume. Amazingly enough, 2- and
4-year olds *can* sleep through a freight train rolling by at 2AM. And
another at 2:30. And 3:00. I never did get used to the feeling that I was
going to be run over, but it got so that I didn't even notice the Coaster.)
Anyway, the UP engines are quite nice too- excellent renditions. I love the
studless hoods. And the UP color scheme works so well in Lego.

| Hello All, I just completed 2 new MOC's for BricksWest; a Union Pacific SW9 with calf and the San Diego Coaster that was designed by James Mathis. I made the UP decals using PhotoShop and clear label stock. I'm not terribly happy with them yet, so I (...) (22 years ago, 4-Feb-03, to lugnet.trains) !
