Yes. I built a steam engine using similar wheels and it will sit fine
on straight track but derails on switches and curves. I'm sure the
Hogwarts has the same problem.

Yes, it is. I don't have the set, but I've seen other people's
instructions. There's a page that gives a rought idea of how to
convert it, showing LEGO train wheels as ghostly outlines.
You see, a different toy company has the Harry Potter electric toy
train license. LEGO can only produce models. To get around that,
they gave the trains wheels that are not suitable for use on rails,
but made it really easy to convert.

They don't sell just wheels, but set 3737 includes 4 wheel pieces
along with a bunch of other undercarriage parts for $14.99.

I agree with the X, but not the FUT. I'm adding lugnet.harrypotter

wouldn't see this part of the thread otherwise.
Maybe this should be in the FAQ? I don't think it is yet...
