  Train chat open again tonight

Hello folks, I'll be opening The Train Shed chat room again over at Bricklink tonight about 6:00 PM EST, come one and all! The last one was a resounding success as I got to talk with many good people online...including a certain little ladybug from (...) (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.general)

  Re: An interesting building idea...

(...) Do you mean 2 pairs (4 tracks, 8 rails) or just 4 rails (2 tracks, or 1 pair of tracks)??? The picture only shows 1 pair of tracks (in each direction... there's another pair running the other way) Neat device, thanks for sharing! (...)   Re: 10025: I've got mine too!

  10025: I've got mine too!

Joepie! They arrived today, two 10025s!!! Well, you know all the details by now. I'm just very happy (and proud to own a real James Mathis!). Jeroen (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Dark Red in trains (was ...Dark Red LMS 4F 0-6-0 Freight Locomotive)

(...) I know what you mean, but you can use it to your advantage. The Star Wars <set:7134> A-Wing fighter is a good example. The original is a grubby white with maroon panels. The Lego version has red panels, but the use of light grey gives an (...) (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.trains)

  An interesting building idea...

Hi all, I just posted pics of an interesting vehicle I am hoping to build. It is a special rail-mounted vehicle for picking up and moving the giant radio antennas of the Very Large Array (VLA) radio telescope in New Mexico. The pics are at (URL) (...)   Re: Small Train Bridge Scene

(...) hehehe... Good one!!! but it's not a Lar-ism, as much as I'd like to take credit. Selective Compression is a well known scale MR term that dates back, oh, to the 1940s and the days of Frank Ellison and John Allen... You're spot on though. (...) (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Burlington Northern's shiny aluminum stream-liner was called?

(...) Burlington Northern never had a shiny aluminium (or stainless steel) streamliner. You're thinking of predecessor road Chicago, Burlington and Quincy (merged with Great Northern and Northern Pacific to form BN in 1971(?)), which had many (...) (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Streamlining (was Re: New MOC: Dark Red LMS 4F 0-6-0 Freight Locomotive)

  Re: missing part numbers

hi Ludo, I've opened 8 out of 12 points so far, I'll check the nrs. for you. Will take a few days, I have to reopen them... But I have to disappoint you a bit: I allready found 2 different nrs. for the 'same' main track, and also the point tongue (...) (22 years ago, 19-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.trains)

Re: Dark Red in trains (was ...Dark Red LMS 4F 0-6-0 Freight Locomotive)

(...) For that matter, some of the old colors can play the same tricks. I have a standard red MOC that I wanted to have a dark gray stripe. When I actually used dark gray, the colors were really hard to look at (kinda like red and green together). (...) (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Burlington Northern's shiny aluminum stream-liner was called?

(...) Yep, that is the one. To make certain that we were talking about the same thing I Googled it. (URL) there it is. Also, I was wrong. According to this page the Zephyr was stainless steel, not aluminum. Thanks for the reminder. Chris (22 years ago, 20-Aug-02, to lugnet.trains)
