Re: Unused Parts in Small Loco 3740

I think the train was to be built using these black plates but then the design changed to allow an electric light to be added. On top of the boiler, instead of using the 4 black 1x1 plates with horizontal clip and the 2 black town umbrella stands. (...) (23 years ago, 27-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Point Motor Instructions

(...) The hole at the end of the lever attaches to the top of the standard-issue yellow point lever. The + shaped hole in the baseplates will seat over the lever housing in an obvious way.   Unused Parts in Small Loco 3740

Has anyone found a useful purpose for the 4 black plates 1 x 2 with handles (Type 2) part number 3839b which are included in the small loco set 3740. They are not used in either of the two engine designs of this set as detailed in the instruction (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Point Motor Instructions

(...) What does the lever engage? How easy is it to tell when the turnout is at the right location? I can see the value of building at least a couple of these for our show layout. Our layout had one turnout which was basically impossible to reach (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Gear and Axle Strength (was Re: Power Pullin' With My Tractor)

(...) Has anyone tried making an axle of 2x2 round bricks with bearings made from 1x4 arch bricks? I just played with it a little and it looks like the bearing would work ok. You could also make a bearing from macaroni bricks, but I think it would (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jan-02, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.technic)
