The oval is 27" X 38". This would require 4 straight sections of track. Two on each side of the oval. Each section of straight track is 5.5" in length. -- Bob Fay rfay@we.mediaone.net The Shop (URL) <razoredge442@aol.com> wrote in message (...) (23 years ago, 29-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Um, correct me if I'm wrong, but I would have bet money that a piece of straight track was only 5" long. Which is it? -Jason (23 years ago, 29-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: number of straight tracks with the Metroliner —Steve Martin
(...) I didn't remember correctly. It the overlap is offset by 1/2 stud making the total length only 17 studs (~5.35"). Steve (23 years ago, 29-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains)

My impression was that those baseplates were 10" square. So the track pieces would be approx. 5" each. I (...) (23 years ago, 30-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains)
