  Re: Aerotrain/hovertrain in Lego?

(...) Looks like something from Thunderbirds :) (18 years ago, 20-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Aerotrain/hovertrain in Lego?

(...) Forgive me for butting into the convestation, but have you ever considered building a pair of Mindstorm controlled round houses for your Aerotrain? You could build a pair of passenger stations (one on each end of the track) that were really (...) (18 years ago, 20-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

  Re: Aerotrain/hovertrain in Lego?

(...) Hm. The monorail wheels are pretty smooth-- I wonder if you could use the big Lego fans to actually drive a little car forward... Hm. I'd guess the battery box would be WAY too heavy to make it move. And certainly not enough to make it go up (...) (18 years ago, 20-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

  Re: Aerotrain/hovertrain in Lego?

(...) Mine goes only straight, that's right. As mine is 6 wide, I cannot use the "stop track". So I made a track without the gear rack. Don't forget to turn off the motor when it reach the end to preserv the battery ;) For the real one, hum, I (...) (18 years ago, 20-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

  Re: Aerotrain/hovertrain in Lego?

Very Nice! I had not seen that on brickshelf before. I am asuming the real thing and the lego version both only go straight, correct? -Rob A> (...) (18 years ago, 20-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Aerotrain/hovertrain in Lego?

(...) Hi Rob, I built it for one of our train shows, in Orleans, France, November 2004. Orleans is the native town of the aerotrain, so I tought we should show one with LEGO bricks ;). (URL) I used monorail base and motor to do it. I wanted to make (...) (18 years ago, 20-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

  Aerotrain/hovertrain in Lego?

I foud this curious picture: (URL) It is (poorly translated by google) a hovertrain, that runs on a monorail style track, with a jet(?) engine driving it forwards. they referred to it as a "plane without wings". Any ideas on how this could be (...) (18 years ago, 20-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, FTX)

Re: Articulation with "working" connecting rods

(...) An alternative solution, more complex than what I wrote earlier, uses a method similar to Mike's, in that flex tubes allow the set of drivers to be split into blocks, but different in the way the blocks are linked and kept synchronised. The (...) (18 years ago, 15-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains)

PSLTC Displaying at Western Washington Fair September 8--24

Every year the Western Washington Fair in Puyallup invites a train club to display at the Fair. This year that club is the Puget Sound LEGO Train Club (the first L-guage club so featured since the PNLTC displayed in 1999). The PSLTC has a 32'x15' (...)   Re: Articulation with "working" connecting rods

(...) As a train novice I don't know how much help I can be, but since I don't remember reading this idea thus far in the thread, I'm just going to throw it out there: shrink the wheels. I ran into this problem once before, and while designing a (...) (18 years ago, 11-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Articulation with "working" connecting rods

(...) Sebastian, Here's my 2-10-4 using BBB wheels. I used Technic Flex-System Hose (URL) to go from the cylinders to the drivers. Pictures can be found here: (URL) It does navigate points and curves most of the time :). Its still a work in (...) (18 years ago, 9-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Rusty Freight Car - an experiment

(...) I can see the idea of this, but I'd take it further. The white is very bright and contrasts too much with the very dark rust colours. I'd lose the stripe (or use a different colour entirely - sand blue?) and swap the white for something (...) (18 years ago, 8-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.town, lugnet.build.schleim, FTX)

Re: A small (and my first) train animation done with MLCad

(...) Dear Jindroush, Jeroen has given a good explanation why the window flickers. I have now exchanged the LGEO code for the part within the pov-file against standard coding without LGEO and that problem is solved. Since radiosity slows down the (...) (18 years ago, 6-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains)

(...) You know what, I just can't say "Jones the Steam" in anything other than a (fake) Welsh accent :-) Ivor was a favourite from my childhood. I love your version and can't wait to seem him for real. Awesome. Martin (18 years ago, 6-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: Articulation with "working" connecting rods

(...) Which will introduce another problem - the piston rods will hit the wheels when they extend out the front of the cylinder. I had that exact same problem on the X class, but managed to work it so they just miss. It's very close though. ROSCO (18 years ago, 5-Sep-06, to lugnet.trains)
