Modifying bricks, Re: Revised Bettendorf Truck Design

(Crosspost to technic, because my reply is more technic releated) (...) Back in the eighties I had a neigbour who was short of technic pistons (nr 3652 on peeron) and created several out of 2x2 bricks. He removed some abs from all sides to make the (...) Warning - I like to modify bricks. I understand the - now you've modified it, there's no way back - syndrome. So please allow me to make a suggestion. I try to "make" the parts I need out of parts that are so common that the act of modification (...) (21 years ago, 23-Jun-03, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

Re: MOC: Indian Railways Alco WDM2 with typical coach and a Indian station.

(...) A search on bricklink will reveal the price of dark-red, and more importantly the dearth of parts available in that colour. Good luck with it anyway ... you'll be needing a lot of plates!! SteveH (BeLUG) (21 years ago, 22-Jun-03, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Studs Now On Bottom is just a (sarcastic?) variant that I've seen posted before! SteveH (BeLUG) (21 years ago, 22-Jun-03, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: Revised Bettendorf Truck Design

(...) Actually, it was Ross' idea to use just one, but here is why I wouldn't use 2. Cutting the wheel out to me was no big deal. I would never use the element as it was. Now, cutting the brick is another story. Now you have committed its use for (...) (21 years ago, 22-Jun-03, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) Don't you mean (URL) SNOT> (Studs Not On Top)? I've never heard of SNOB building before. (21 years ago, 22-Jun-03, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) Wow. Stunning work. The "crowds swarming on" scene is a favorite. I am going to have to try SNOB out, it seems a great idea for stretching limited colors farther. Toastercat seems to be a little, er "tanner"... than usual... Spotlighted! (21 years ago, 22-Jun-03, to lugnet.trains)

I wanna know how much that Dark red cost cause i was thinking of building a GP38-2 (8wide) with dark red & light yellow... Josh (21 years ago, 21-Jun-03, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Revised Bettendorf Truck Design

(...) John, I just thought of something. Since you are taking apart 2x2 wheels, why not use two of them. If you snip off one of the loops that holds the axel on, then the two 2x2 axel bricks will sit flush to each other, and you have a 2x4 axel (...) (21 years ago, 21-Jun-03, to lugnet.trains)

MOC: Indian Railways Alco WDM2 with typical coach and a Indian station.

Another type of internationalisation! An Alco WDM2 of the Indian Railways is shown in a typical dark-red livery with yellow highlights. It is shown with an old-style coach, also in dark-red. This is a studs-down design (sometimes referred to as (...) (21 years ago, 21-Jun-03, to lugnet.trains) !
