  Re: 12V train engines

Margaret, I haven't found a good replacement source for the traction tires yet. The rubber that Lego used decomposes quickly when exposed to air. First they will turn yellow and then crack apart after only a few years. When mine are gone I expect (...) (24 years ago, 10-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

  NGTLC postcard

I just got a copy of the post card that LEGO sent out to help promote the show the NGLTC is doing this weekend, it looks pretty good. I'll be interested to see how many people bring one to the show, they sent out 2000 of them! (URL) J. Trobaugh (...) (24 years ago, 10-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains.org, lugnet.trains) !

  Re: 'Dog Bone' - definition

(...) There is no rule to say that a dog bone style layout should be in the shape of a dog-bone! A far more common MR arrangement is to run the centre double track section around a room or double back over itself at a higher level. You get more (...) (24 years ago, 10-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Green line pics

(...) Actually I tried something like that-- although I didn't use the 1/4 8-wide thinwall cylinders because the colors were wrong-- instead I tried using 1/4 8-wide 'pie piece' bricks, stacked on top of one another (Though I can't remember if I had (...)   Re: Green line pics

(...) If you're comfortable with having it be 8 wide, is there any way you can incorporate the new SW 1/4 round eight wide cylinders? The center section can use two of these, one on each side. Both ends of the car can attach to the center section (...) (24 years ago, 9-Mar-01, to lugnet.loc.us.ma, lugnet.org.us.nelug, lugnet.trains)

  Re: Green line pics

Hi Dave, really nice work! Your Green Line just look great as it is. Probably you might take some brighter pictures?? (...) Me, as another 8-wide addict I just can emphazise these words! 8-wide is THE scale for modelmaking, less for playing and (...) (24 years ago, 9-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Harry P. Movie Trailer / Hogwarts Express Train

(...) yes...well have the engine car large enough to stick a motor on it, but nice enough that it would still look nice if you decided not to go the 9V route!! (24 years ago, 9-Mar-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

Re: Harry P. Movie Trailer / Hogwarts Express Train

(...) Just to let you know, you have an interesting view point. I am clearly not a big fan of Belville (I guess its a girl thing...hmmm..????) I do have some Paradisa sets...I really like the contrast in colours versus the usually normal town sets. (...) (24 years ago, 9-Mar-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)

  Re: Green line pics

(...) Yeah, by rights, if you were modeling standard gauge (4' 8 1/2" between the rails which is almost exactly 5 studs, so about 1 foot to 1 stud), then you'd really need to build your trains *10 wide* (10 feet is about the typical train car (...) (24 years ago, 9-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Future of Belville

(...) Just 'cause the toys would be in Belville scale doesn't mean that it'd have to be designated Belville by name. But it's not like it couldn't work as a sub-theme. (...) Whoo-hoo!!! Awesome! It's gonna take every ounce of patience I can muster to avoid going crazy while I wait for November 16th!!! (...)
