Amy are you also responsible for the buildings directly behind
the art museum? (From the close-up photo of the sand red
buidlings front door, Im guessing yes.) Those are really sweet.

Yes, and thanks. The sand red hotel and light yellow soda shop are mine. Ill
post pictures and descriptions when I find some time. Yes, the door on the hotel
is identical to the one on the art museum, except in white. And the one on the
hotel has a header formed using the backside of 1x1 plates, whereas the museum
has a transom window over the door.
|
I love how youve done the windows
on both buildings, especially the use of the white lattice
fences on the first floor, and the pillars.
|
Ive seen someone use two of the small fences to make windows that look sorta
like LEGOs lattice windows. I just used the larger ones, and used three instead
of two. As with much of my stuff, the SNOT parts just slide into a track.
|
The yellow building (or is that lt. yellow?) is also pleasingly
distinct, too, with its innovative window structures.
|
Im not sure why I even decided to try the dark blue windows over clear, but it
worked on the first floor and looked like diner windws. I wasnt sure itd be a
good idea on the upper floors but I had more of those pieces in 2x2 than I did
in clear, so I used em. I spent a lot of time trying out decorative pieces on
the window frames and finally decided to just leave em clean. I was constrained
by having no light yellow plates.
|
The landscaping for the whole block came out very nice.
|
Thanks. I placed 18 of those trees for this show. I have pieces to build about
30 more :-)
|
The elevated train looks beautiful, too. Hats off to David Kohrman.
Its great how the side rails curve so naturally with the track at
the corners.
|
Davids elevated train was a hit, as was his courthouse. He said he figured out
how to do the curves but I was surprised to see how simple it was. Hes a very
clever builder.
Thanks for your comments.
