  Re: Residential Block/Squad 252

(...) I think that's the term all right! (URL) (22 years ago, 16-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)

  Re: Residential Block/Squad 252

(...) A while ago John made a building that reminded me of and Edward Hopper painting....hence the Ashcan reference. Jonathan (22 years ago, 16-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)

  Re: Residential Block/Squad 252

I think John Neal is referring to the "Ashcan School" of painters (turn of the century to about 1920) who often painted slums and city folk in unglamorous but detailed styles. Helpful Web page: (URL) (22 years ago, 16-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)

  Re: Residential Block/Squad 252

(...) Add me to the brotherhood of cavernous undetailed buildings. I have done some limited detailing where there is an easily viewable interior section from the exterior. I for one don't believe that Minifigs run around the layout when the lights (...) (22 years ago, 16-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)

(...) What's an ashcanner in this context? Is there a secret handshake? ++Lar (who does not own an I Love NY tee shirt, but who loves Jonathan's New York just the same... these latest really rock!) (22 years ago, 16-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)

  Re: Residential Block/Squad 252

(...) Thanks. I built the truck after you and I discussed the street vendor's a while ago. (...) Yeah, I'd like to add a clothesline on the fire escape too. I don't know how to do the clothes though. Well with 'Dobbys Release' I can do socks. (...) (...) (22 years ago, 16-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)

  Re: Residential Block/Squad 252

(...) Hi Brad, thanks! The brown arches protrude by one stud from the rest of the facade. It is quite solid though, there are just enough parts available in the burnt orange color (plates, tiles etc) to make it work. All of the arches are attached (...) (22 years ago, 16-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)

  Re: Residential Block/Squad 252

(...) I always love the neat little details you add, like the metal bars on the first-floor windows of the tan building, the flowers on the windowsill, and the air-vents on the roof. (And of course the "Jonathan Lopes signature" standpipe valve. (...) (22 years ago, 16-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)

  Re: Residential Block/Squad 252

(...) lol I know what you mean. I get a hard time from the GMLTC for not detailing the inside of my buildings; they just don't understand that you can't have your lintel and eat it, too;-) -John (22 years ago, 16-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)

  Re: Residential Block/Squad 252

(...) Looks like the brown arches are just projecting over the top of the rust color (it's not orange), so the rust runs behind the brown arch. It looks marvelous though. Adrian (22 years ago, 16-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)

  Re: Residential Block/Squad 252

Hey, That looks really great! I really like the details of the roof top seen in "top.jpg." How did you fill in those brown arches with orange? Brad (22 years ago, 15-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC: A 1962 Volkswagen Microbus (4-wide)

(...) That rocks! Where are the surfboards? Seems like there's a mini-land scale microbus at Legoland California - anybody got pics of that one? James Wilson Dallas, TX Lugnet #1783 (22 years ago, 15-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)

  Re: Residential Block/Squad 252

(...) Hi Jason, Thanks for looking and commenting. I finally came up with a fire escape that I like! I don't think I'd ever have tried white for the trim on the firehouse, but I think black would work nicely as well. I will try black on my next (...) (22 years ago, 15-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)

  Re: Residential Block/Squad 252

(...) Thanks Kevin! I came up with the lintel(?) idea on my way home from work one day. I am really happy with it as well. Thanks again, Jonathan (22 years ago, 15-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)

  Re: Residential Block/Squad 252

(...) Thanks! No, sorry there are no interior pic's (or interiors) for these buildings. They are actually quite ugly and messy on the inside. To quote Erik Olson when he saw the insides to one of my buildings: "ugh!, look at the inside!" :o) Thanks (...) (22 years ago, 15-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)

  Re: Residential Block/Squad 252

(...) Thanks Lindsay. I am really happy with the firehouse as well. The actual firehouse was built in the late 1800's & has exactly the weathered look you describe. Thanks again for looking and commenting. Best, Jonathan (22 years ago, 15-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)

Re: A typical day on the Lake

(...) Josh, This looks real cute, something a little more ferocioius than those tiny sharks. Thanks, George (22 years ago, 15-Oct-02, to lugnet.town)
