During a recent cleanout of my lego magazines I found some early 90's • ones.

What happened to the town models between 1990 and 1995?
They seemed to be more detailed than the 1999/2000 models.
There was also more peices too.

This degradation of current Lego sets is called "juniorization".  Lego • wants
to target kids of younger ages and makes the sets with less pieces and • less
complex which makes the sets supposedly easier to put together for younger
kids.  It is not just town but also the current castle lineup.  The only
themes that don't seem to be affected by this are Star Wars, Technic and • Model
Team.

I'd beg to differ with Technic.  Some technic has remained unjuniorized, but
a lot of it (throwbots, etc) is made up of a few pretty-much-useless technic
SPUDs that can't be used for anything else but reducing the piece count of
that particular set.
