Re: Is set 2936 Extreme Racer rare/promotional?

In the US it's sometimes a promotional set, as in, TRU tried to GIVE them away with purchase of any $20 Lego set. At one TRU I saw dozens of them sit there for a long long time. It has also appeared bundled with a flimsy plastic mountain for $10 or (...) (24 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.loc.ca, lugnet.town, lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) I don't think it's a rare set in the US. I've seen them at Wal*Mart, and I think they're at Kmart and TRU as well. I haven't seen any lately, but I haven't really paid any attention (the set never really interested me.) (24 years ago, 11-Nov-00, to lugnet.loc.ca, lugnet.town, lugnet.market.shopping)

(...) Huh. I picked one up at The Construction Site (www.constructiontoys.com) not too long ago. I had no idea that it was supposed to be a promo or rare item, I too just wanted the exhausts. eric (24 years ago, 10-Nov-00, to lugnet.loc.ca, lugnet.town, lugnet.market.shopping)

Is set 2936 Extreme Racer rare/promotional?

This set has been at Zellers for a while now. Is that unusual? According to this page, (URL) this is a promotional/HTO type set. Chrome exhautst pipes look cool (perhaps I could add them to my <set:2148 LEGO Truck>?), I'll try to buy one tomorrow (...)   Re: The minifigs don't fit in the vehicles!

(...) In addition to the difficul;ties of transitioning their design department to a new type of vehicke that would fit a minifigure, Lego also released some sets twice, the first time with the old, unposeable figure, and then again with the new (...)   Re: The minifigs don't fit in the vehicles!

I have been trying to modify the sets that I have that are like this so that the mini-figs actually do fit into the vehical. The only one so far that I really like the way I have modified it is set 554. It is no longer a tractor trailer type of (...) (24 years ago, 10-Nov-00, to lugnet.town, lugnet.year.1978)

Re: The minifigs don't fit in the vehicles!

(...) ... (...) Well, these all came out shortly after the advent of the minifig. Prior to that, most 'legoland' style vehicles were made without doors or interior for a cab (There may be some exceptions, I forget). At any rate, they were still (...)   Re: Dejuniorization of 6464 Super Rescue Complex Project

(...) Hmm... looks good for the most part, but I have one small comment. "Fire Truck Modifications: Added hinged cab and hinge bricks on back unit(*). (*) I'm not sure of this unit's fuction, but I thought the hinges made it more playable." The unit (...) (24 years ago, 9-Nov-00, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general, lugnet.town)

(...) That's a great set! It was also the first time I got any of those single-wheel pieces. Ah, memories! Dave! (24 years ago, 9-Nov-00, to lugnet.town, lugnet.year.1978)
