Well, these all came out shortly after the advent of the minifig. Prior to
that, most 'legoland' style vehicles were made without doors or interior for
a cab (There may be some exceptions, I forget). At any rate, they were still
designing vehicles with the old standards, and simply including the
minifigs... but slowly, of course, that's changed-- even though most cars
still only fit one person :)
