(...) Personally, I don't think that they are too thick and bulky looking. When creating such a structure, the builders would simply flip up on end the bricks with which they are building to create the lintel. That pic you've selected is actually a (...) I tried to distinguish the top floor by changing the window pattern. It is really subtle when you look square on to the face of the building but when you're at 3/4 view they get rather exaggerated.
