That just adds fuel to the 'Lego are trying to get rid of studed beams'
argument. What better way to destroy the memory of the old part than to
reuse it's name.
Actually as I said before they're both beams. The old type is the default
beam so gets the short hand 'beam'. In order to distinguish the new type
from the old you add the word studless (or rounded end). As Lego no longer
seem to make studded beams of any great lenght they have no need to
differentiate between the two.
