Suspension for supercar sized Hummer? —Michael Camilleri
I have been thinking about building a supercar Sized Hummer for some time now and have run into a problem. I need a 4wd independent suspension with good ground clearance. I plan to use the wheels off of the Super Street Sensation and want the center (...) (23 years ago, 17-Oct-01, to lugnet.technic)

Finally, a decent Technic discussion! (...) I'm not sure if it will be easy to get 2.5" of ground clearance given the wheels you will be using. You might be better off using the "power puller" wheels: Power Puller: (URL) Off Roader: (URL) much (...) (23 years ago, 16-Oct-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

(...) No, buy it for the tires! ;-) (...) FLIMSY?! I have faith in this one: (URL) pounded it up and down with my fist and the suspension held up fine. With enough shock absorbers, it would definitely support a model the size of a big super car. TJ (23 years ago, 17-Oct-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

(...) Yep. I only wish that Lego made a tire that looks like the old 24x43's but is much larger in diameter. What I would like to see is a tire the same diameter as the power puller's, but "squared off" (like the silver champion's) and with deeper (...)           Re: Suspension for supercar sized Hummer? —Michael Camilleri
After Looking at it a second time I think that suspension will really work great. It is a little hard to see exactly how it is built from the pictures. Do you have a DAT you could post or e-mail me? -- Michael Camilleri "Thomas (T. J.) Avery" (...) (23 years ago, 20-Oct-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics)

One thing I forgot to mention is that this will be powered by 4 gear motors on the back wheels and 2 to steer. The steering wheels will be powered by an RCX and monitored with a rotation sensor. The back 4 will be powered by a battery box controlled (...) (23 years ago, 17-Oct-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Suspension for supercar sized Hummer? —Ross Crawford
(...) One thing to remeber about hummers is they often have geared hubs, which raises the suspension even further off the ground. I've thought about trying to build these before, but never had any firm ideas - simething else always seems to take (...) (23 years ago, 16-Oct-01, to lugnet.technic)
