|
| | Hello, I am looking for a good set for parts, in the price range of $70-$120 CDN. One set I have been considering is the Pneumatic Front-End Loader (#8459), but it looks fairly old, and uses the old-style half-bushings (i.e. with teeth). I am sort (...) | | | | (...) Hey Tom I don't think it has the old half bushings. There are a couple on ebay right now but I saw one go for like $150.00 Mike (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.technic)

| | | | Tom, You might want to look at some of the "universal" technic sets, 8064, 8074, 8082 and a few others. These are early 90s, and have some great parts in them if you can get them for a decent price. ROSCO Tom Covo <aximili11@hotmail.com> wrote in (...) (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.technic)

| | | | (...) It is old, but that doesn't make it bad. I consider it one of the best sets I have, especially when it comes to function... I wouldn't go higher than 80 USD on this one (don't know what that'll be in CDN). Kind regards John Jensen (24 years ago, 13-Feb-01, to lugnet.technic)

| | | | (...) Actually the 8459 set is actually pretty new (1997) when compared to some others, but yeah; I would definitely recommend this one. I'm not sure about average auction prices but I saw an unopened one go for $125 US dollars on eBay a few days (...) (24 years ago, 15-Feb-01, to lugnet.technic)

| | | | From what I've read, the 8459 is generally regarded as a pretty good set. Because I have only been into Technic for couple of years, my definition of a "new" set is whether the half-bushings have teeth or not. But from what I've read here, it seems (...) | | | | (...) Yeah, some of the older sets (8460, 8480, 8862, 8868, 8880, etc) are very nice in terms of functionality IMHO. It seems that today's models are actually less functionally advanced than some older ones (at least from 1989-1998), which would (...) (24 years ago, 17-Feb-01, to lugnet.technic)
