Oh okay; yeah, that piece could have some interesting applications since it
seems that it can be connected easily to an axle. I think it's used as a
crank handle on this model though...

Yeah I know what you mean; the old turntable is quite clumsy - I have the
8862 model and the nuts on either side need to be positioned exactly the
right way or the thing will fall over very easily - but I guess that was the
best that could be done at the time.
While we're on the subject of turntables, was this set (8094) the first to
include the modern geared turntable? Or was it the 8074 universal flex
system set? Not sure which came first...
