Somehow neither of these series appeal to me...maybe I'm just a bit too old (14). Although you're probably right about the fact that these are probably designed for younger builders, since my brother (who is 8) really enjoys the Throwbots. (25 years ago, 9-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

A 1 rotation/ 36 second escapement is going to be really tough. Mine is 1 turn / 8 seconds, and is is close to the edge of the reliability envelope. The big problem is that the escapement must come to a complete stop with every pendulum swing, and (...) (25 years ago, 6-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)

I don't have these sets, but I found something similar in the 8002 Destroyer droid. It came with an amendment sheet for page 30, showing a different position for the two rubber bands. Now the photo on page 31 shows yet another position for them.... (...) (25 years ago, 5-Dec-00, to lugnet.technic)
