(...) My new 5218 Mindstorms Pneumatic Kit came today (US$27.99) and is EXACTLY the sort of kit you've been looking for. It's companion kits are also available (but not yet shipping)... 5219 Spare Wheels US$29.99 5220 Styling Pack UA$11.99 (looks (...) (25 years ago, 29-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Moonbase! Need Help!

(...) Look here, for starters: (URL)2) Where can i get it Toys R Us supposedly has an exclusive for the U.S. They're currently closing it out, at *very* low prices. You might also look around to see who's been buying the sets to break out the motors (...) (25 years ago, 29-Aug-00, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, lugnet.technic)

  Re: Moonbase! Need Help!

(...) My knowledge is limited, but I think it comes down to cost/benefit: digging is an expensive process. On the Moon, the benefits of minimizing the temperature swings are huge, and the costs of energy should be a lot lower (either boosting up a (...) (...) Chirstmas tree lights. Although they aren't for sale this time of year you could use some you already have and buy some more later. In my GT class we built a huge city out of card board, christmas tree lights, and batteries (I have to admit, (...) (25 years ago, 29-Aug-00, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, lugnet.technic)

Re: Where to get pneumatic small pump and small cylinder

(...) The small cylinders are unavailable (as are the valves, and the tubing service pack), but I *think* the small pumps can still be bought. btw, I bought a 6150 on closeout the other day ($7 at Toys R Us), and the tubing they use in it appears to (...)   Re: Mini-review: 8457 Power Puller

  Re: Moonbase! Need Help!

(...) I think a Mars base would be mostly underground too, as you wouldn't get much protection from radiation with Mars' thin atmosphere. At least, when I get enough free time to build my Mars base, it will be either mostly underground, or built (...) (25 years ago, 28-Aug-00, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, lugnet.technic)

Re: Where to get pneumatic small pump and small cylinder

(...) Thank for the idea. I know the service catalog, but I thought, these pieces where discontinued. I just called from France (where I live). And they said it is now problem. I am now waiting for the parts.... Marc Klein A Mindstorms fan. (25 years ago, 28-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Where to get pneumatic small pump and small cylinder

(...) Depends on where you live. In US these pieces are sold out. In Sweden (and the rest of Europe??) these can be ordered from LEGO Service. LEGO is about to fire up a new and improved version of S@H so you might be able to order these OnLine (...) (25 years ago, 28-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Re: Where to get pneumatic small pump and small cylinder

(...) How about the Lego service catalogue? I was recently able to order all the pneumatic elements from the UK service department, and it was significantly cheaper than $100. I know that some parts are apparently unavailable in the US, but as you (...) (25 years ago, 28-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

Where to get pneumatic small pump and small cylinder

I'd like to get the pneumatic small pump and small cylinder. The best source for this I have found is the Lego Dacta set #9633 for 100$ + shipping ( (URL) ) I see an alternative source with the set #5218, but the content is not very detailed. Has (...) (25 years ago, 28-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Mini-review: 8457 Power Puller

I missed the original post, but FWD pullers wouldn't work well. There's several things that are better about RWD for this type of competition. Natural torque caused by the drive wheels causes them to want to lift the front end, lessening their (...) (25 years ago, 28-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Mini-review: 8457 Power Puller

(...) There are 4x4 truck and 4x4 stock tractor classes when the farmers bring out their stock tractors... I don't think there is any rule against FWD. but I would think that the load shift up the transfer sled would pick the front tires off the (...) (25 years ago, 28-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Moonbase! Need Help!

(...) That's pretty much what I would do, too. Although one problem is that a lot (most?) of the structure of a *Lunar* base would be underground: a Mars base might be easier, since I would expect most of it to be on the surface. Hmmm, one way to (...) (25 years ago, 28-Aug-00, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, lugnet.technic)

  Re: Mini-review: 8457 Power Puller

(...) Is there a rules requirement for rear wheel drive? This seems like a natural for FWD, with any of the minimal steering required done by the rear wheels. Any benefits to RWD I can think of (like, say, using the load to increase traction) seem (...) (25 years ago, 28-Aug-00, to lugnet.technic)
