System to allow pressure and vacuum for piston at the same time —Kevin L. Clague
Hi, Single LEGO pneumatic switches are not capable of controlling a pneumatic system that uses both pressure and vacuum to drive a given cylinder at the same time. A single switch does not let you capture the exhaust inherint when a piston contracts (...) (19 years ago, 22-Nov-05, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.announce.moc) !

Would have loved to see the running engine and how it compares with the traditional ones using just compressed air, which was the original question. (...)    (...) Thank you. (...) Well we must agree that the switch solution is a bit gangly. I'd like to work on a more compact solution before I bother with the engine. When simply run on compressed air, the sequencer cycled faster than I would have (...) (19 years ago, 23-Nov-05, to lugnet.technic)

Re: System to allow pressure and vacuum for piston at the same time —Andrew Meyer
(...) I think I may, if I have enough switches. I only have the contents of one of the new studless backhoes, minus one piston because I broke off the bottom port and can't figure out a way to repair it. Oh, and I also have the pneumatics from the (...) (19 years ago, 23-Nov-05, to lugnet.technic)

Re: System to allow pressure and vacuum for piston at the same time —Kevin L. Clague
(...) Andrew, If you call LEGO customer service, they may replace your broken piston. Well a pressure/vacuum engine will run only on pressure. The vacuum parts would be exhaust pressure to the atmosphere. I did all my testing simply using pressure, (...) (19 years ago, 23-Nov-05, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Tricky? Difficult? Here are a few to get you started: (URL) Enjoy! You bet! CSSoh ...where air and/or vacuum is power ;-) (19 years ago, 23-Nov-05, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Even though it was my own clumsiness that was at fault? (I sort of... fell on it, when it was part of a sailcar akin to Mario Ferrari's: (URL)) (...) I always like to start enormous threads ;-) I remember one that I started on .robotics in (...) (19 years ago, 24-Nov-05, to lugnet.technic)

(...) Yes. Even if you broke it due to clumsiness. Kev (19 years ago, 24-Nov-05, to lugnet.technic)
