First pics iv'e seen of the susspension(or lack there of).
It looks like this set includes the same wheel mounts as 8846 and 8386
http://www.peeron.com/pics/inv/custpics/x873cx1.1102063967.jpg
possibly so the hubcap can fix to the centre wheel axle hole ?
The rear wishbones show the wheels are attached with these:

so there are potentially 4 of the steering arms in this set.
If the rear wheel centre is occupied by the hubcap connector, there is potential
for the diff to be driven by these rare CV joints:

I think the motor gives way for the "hand-of-god" steering.
can anyone guess what the 3x3 discs are doing in the front behind the headhights
?
looks like a great suppliment to my blue axle-pin collection.

| The 8653 set does in fact have a V12 engine(light gray cylinder blocks) If you look in the rear hatch, you can also see 2 yellow axle extenders that are taking place of where the shocks are supposed to be(I guess for the visual effect of shocks). (...) (20 years ago, 15-Feb-05, to lugnet.technic)
