to think laterally. It's a bit like living in space*, there is no longer an "up"

Something that I really like about these bricks is that you can achieve unusual
gear meshings very easily without having vast bracing structures surrounding
them. Indeed, you could have any gear meshing you like by moving into the
analogue rather than stud domain by using the ribbed hose as spacers and/or
washers. I'm perfectly happy with cutting hoses (pneumatic, flex system, etc)
for MOCs, so in my opinion this is a "Lego Legal" approach.

I can't see these bricks replacing traditional ones for Model Team style models,
but they are great for working parts.

Hi Jennifer,

I can see that I have mostly the same opinion as you, and I think its a good
subject to discuss. I do not own that much of the "new" technic bricks, but the
few bricks I have are very usefull in some particular places. But I'm a bit
sorry that LEGO only put those new bricks in all the new sets, as far as I know.
I think they should mix the parts, and give the "new" builders a chance to get a
collection of both types.

Yes, it is best to have the option of using either method where appropriate... presumably it is still possible to get sets with the traditional Technic beams etc. What would be a good currently available set for this? Jennifer (20 years ago, 29-Jun-04, to lugnet.technic)
