No. No. Which obsession? The Technic one: no. The "I'm worried
about my obsession" obsession: yes, stop it now!
Rediscovered LEGO through hearing of Mindstorms late in '98, went into
a feeding frenzy buying all I could find on eBay, finishing just after
Christmas with 10 1200-piece tubs from eToys for $10ea. Wife made
threats. Then Target had their sales. I should've bought ALL the
Castle sets at $30, but the 25 8414's at $6 made my month.
A year later, still shopping bargains, focusing more on Technic than
before, and in the process of clearing out of my basement several
crates of LEGO bought on clearance but never desired to play with.
Now I find the Mega Bloks Pro-Builder Battleship is a winner in the
grey brick department, after having found a stash of dozens at $13 ea
(Odd-Lot stores, also have the Nascar Pro-Builders).
I've gotten several colleagues to buy into Mindstorms, two are over 40
as am I, and it was for them not their kids. At least I still say
it's for my kids. The six 8480s I got under $60 I ended up sharing
with colleagues for cost. Suffering withdrawal, I went back and
bought 4 more at $75. For me. They're MINE. I don't know why I want
them, but having them in a nice big stack on the table makes me feel
safe and loved.
I hear the grey blocks calling. Odd-Lot is on my way to work
tomorrow...hmmm. Nice grey castles. But it's not LEGO, blasphemy!
Evil! Heh-heh....

the basement and destined for the block. SOMEbody's gotta pay for the
shuttles and battleships!)

| I've been afflicted with 'Legomania technicitis', the adult variant of the Lego Mania virus, Technic strain. Over the last couple of months I've purchased about a dozen Technic sets including two large ones (8479 and 8480), and I just love building (...) (25 years ago, 1-Mar-00, to lugnet.technic)
