I've essentially done what you said.  I wouldn't mind so much if the parts
were new from another set (I mean new as in the last few months or so "new")
but for now the idea's history.  Stickers are nice but they can also cause
issues on down the line when it comes to using parts in other areas of
building.  Kind of a suicidal juniorization if you know what I mean.

Well, either way, it would have been cool.  If I get inspired, I might buy a
set with those pieces as there could be something else cool coming from Lego
in the near future that's in my price range.  Plus, it's not like I
literally lost something.  It is just an alternate model after all.

I don't want to come off sounding like some freak that goes berzerk about
Lego.  I mean, yeah I'd go into a flaming building to save my 8448 (uh...)
but I'd second-guess taking a bullet for it (unless...).  You could torture
me by slowly pulling it apart and tossing the pieces into a large bin of
other pieces.  I'd go mad.  Maybe I have gone berzerk after all!

Well, sorry for ranting and raving like a lunatic.  When I like something
and treat it as a hobby, my definition may well go beyond what others deem
as a hobby.  I always correct people when they say "Legos" and that it's
"Lego pieces" or "Lego sets or models."  I keep my 8448 covered at all times
when I'm not drooling over it (I use a bib to keep the slobber off) to keep
it from collecting any dust.  I use Qtips to remove any dust or particles
from the "sticky" rubber tires.  I made simple "blocks" to jack it up to
relieve the suspension from any stress.  When I get enough cash, I'm gonna
purchase a model case that's dust-proof and UV resistant.  This may sound
like an obsession to you but I take great pride in and care for my favorite
models.  If it were to fall to the floor, I'd crack.

Whew, glad I got to share that with everyone else.  I can see Lego officials
at their terminals going "File->Move to Folder->Psychopaths" and getting the
FBI to "put out an APB on that Daniel Huber guy."

Hopelessly insane,

Dan Huber

(Who also day-dreams about luxury cars, sports cars, SUVs, high-end audio
equipment, computers in general, calculators, and other various electronics;
essentially every expensive thing that I generally can't afford)

Am I the only one that noticed this (I doubt it, but was curious)?  And,
maybe it's just me, but I don't feel like ripping up or trying to gently
peel back my stickers to revive these "headlights" as I know my luck that
I'll just be screwing myself and realize it when I hear that fateful
"ripppp..." and know that my precious sticker has just become simple
garbage.

Well, when I came to that point and realized that those were the dials • inside
the car, I decided to simply chuck the idea of building the hot rod. But, • what
you could do is use the cam-shaft pieces, you know the ones used in the
convertible model, as makeshift headlights, as I don't think they're used
anywhere else on the hotrod model, or if they are, use something else in • their
place. Just my 5 cents worth (inflation, you know, used to be two cents :)
