  Re: Yet Another Technic Creation

(...) It is indeed, although I have made quite a few changes to it since then to toughen it up as well as many cosmetic details. The train journeys to and from that meeting as well as several others with the truck in a carrier bag prove very (...) (24 years ago, 2-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Yet Another Technic Creation

(...) Like most things, there are several variations on the hooklift theme - for example, the "Light Duty Hoist" at this URL does not have a boom locking mechanism; the skip length is small enough to allow both tipping and loading to be achieved by (...)   Re: Yet Another Technic Creation

(...) Have you somehow learned to bend yourself and not the spoon? Sorry, saw The Matrix recently, again. How impressive your models might seem, I find myself even more impressed when I think of all the hours you have put into that amazing truck and (...) (24 years ago, 2-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) There is indeed - for proof, check out the "towing" video in the skip loading section where the truck executes several maneouvers involving full lock turns :-) Jennifer (24 years ago, 2-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

(...) John Barnes, who frequently posts on lugnet.robotics, is responsible for the design of the remote control. Hopefully he'll come onto this thread to respond, but if not you can email him at barnes@sensors.com Jennifer (24 years ago, 2-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Yet Another Technic Creation

(...) Thanks! Even if I can't model the real thing exactly, I try to put the parts that are semi-equivalent in similar places to achieve some of the more subtle visual and mechanical (such as weight and centre of gravity) effects of the real thing.   Re: Yet Another Technic Creation

I think this must be the most beautiful creation yet. The scale is perfect (well, if the driver is Andre the Giant. Why can't the lego figures and wheels relative scale be more realistic). In the past I made reasonable facsimile's of the Skid Loader (...) (24 years ago, 2-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Yet Another Technic Creation

(...) A small observation: These skip lorries are the same as those used to pick up an enclosed version of the skip used at my local tip. While waiting in the heinous queue to throw away some hedge trimmings I have often watched them pick up and (...) (24 years ago, 2-May-01, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.loc.uk)

  Re: Small Axle

(...) I also found that almost all pieces I bought in the last 3 years have less grip than my 10 years old pieces before dark age. Everything from 1x1 plate to gears. The 16t gear in particular shown significent difference. With a new 16t I can plug (...) (24 years ago, 2-May-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: Small Axle

(...) I'm not sure I agree with that one. The old half bushings, the ones with a full cross axle hole, were actually quite loose, in my opinion. The later ones, with a "time glass shaped" hole, were tighter. Then came the third type, without the (...) (24 years ago, 2-May-01, to lugnet.technic)
