what sets include the old 9v motor

or can be used with the old 9v motor pack? (26 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8857 Street Chopper question

(...) You are right, the chain drives a axle with no function. It's only decoration. Because the large tires the differential isn't turning very fast and thus the engine rpm is also not very high. By head I think the 8865 has one of the fastest (...) (26 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: The bodge and it's use in Technic Construction

(...) Hehe...it's interesting how quickly the topic changed in this discussion. I don't think I've heard the word "bodge" before but I have seen "kludge" used many times... Although I don't think I know what a "dif case" is. Something to do with (...) (26 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

Re: how do I use this technic 9v motor I bought?

(...) Yeah, this motor usually needs to be geared down two or three times to get a sufficient amount of torque. Most of the official sets seem to use pulleys and rubber belts rather than gears (probably because these are much quieter than gears) but (...)   8857 Street Chopper question

Hi everyone; I had a question on the 8857 Street Chopper model from 1993. I was looking at the instructions for this on Brickshelf and am wondering if the chain in the rear has any purpose other than decoration. The 8-tooth gear which is connected (...)   Re: The bodge and it's use in Technic Construction

(...) The word bodge comes up quite often in the BBC show "Scrapheap Challenge", shown here in the States on the cable channel TLC under the name "Junkyard Wars". If you want another example, TV's MacGyver frequently bodged things. (26 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)

RE: how do I use this technic 9v motor I bought?

(...) The problem is that you haven't found a good balance of speed and torque. To make overcoming this problem easier, and to make the motors more efficient, the new motors contain some gears inside to slow down the output speed and increase the (...)   how do I use this technic 9v motor I bought?

I just picked up one of the old style 9v technic motors and I am having a problem. (URL) works just fine when I just run it so the motor is ok. If I make it into a vechicle however, it works when I hold it in the air but not when I put it on the (...) (26 years ago, 10-Apr-01, to lugnet.general, lugnet.technic)

Re: Yet another use for 7106

Only if TLG comes up with a suitable piece. And by that time, I suspect they'll also have a model to go with it, thus beating me to the point. But if they don't, then maybe I'll have a chance. :-) I've already got two 8462's, so there's some of the (...) (26 years ago, 9-Apr-01, to lugnet.technic)
