| After doing my spider walker (URL) , which was essentially a bi-ped with overlapping footprints, I decided to create a walking caterpillar. | (...) Thanks! This really was a case of function before form. I built the entire cental axis and cockpit separately. Then I attached them and added plates to cover up the gaps. (...) I don't see any reason why not to try it ;-) Off the top of my head, I can tell you that an RCX loaded with batteries is fairly heavy - maybe you'll need more springs and to pay carfeul attention to balance.
