"TIE Fighter" was good.  I still like "X-Wing" the best.  :)

Vader's Tie was a "prototype" of sorts for what become the Tie Advanced.  The
Interceptor was a completely different ship.  The major differences (so I'm
told :] ) are that the Tie Advanced has shields, warhead launchers, and
hyperdrive, whereas the Interceptor has none of those..., all excluding custom
refits of course which came and went in the original series game.  Vader's
Tie, and thus basically the Tie Advanced, is what is included in the 7150 Tie
Fighter and Y-Wing set.

Vader's TIE is the one in that set.  What Totally Games decided to call
the TIE Advanced is really (well, everywhere else, card games, RPGs and
the like) called the TIE Avenger.  I think on the official SW site it
says that the T/I IS a decendent of Vader's (I still don't see HOW, they
where completely different...  the T/A is a more obvious decendent).
Oh, and Vader's is the "Advanced X1 Prototype," commonly refered to as
the T/A X1 (or something like that).

Something I notice is that both the movie and 7150 seem to indicate Vader's
Tie only had 2 guns, whereas the Tie Advanced has 4, just like the Interceptor.

Actually, another nitpick, the T/I has UP TO 10.  The 4 that where in
the games, plus 2 where the guns are on Vader's and the standard TIE,
and 2 in the notches on the wings.  Again, I *think* it says this on
SW.com (lemme see...) well, it says "(although experimental variants
have included more)," but I belive if you look real close durring the
fighting at the second Death Star, you can see some shoot 10 bolts.  I'm
sure this is more than anyone wanted to know.  :)  Even me.  :)
Basically, the X-Wing series says one thing, and LucasFilm says
another.  Changes were made to make the game fun.  Later!

(...) I caught that Avenger thing when I was roaming the web. I only played the original Tie Fighter, before the graphics upgrade. Throughout that game it's only known as "Tie Advanced". It seems the newer version of the game went with "Tie (...) (25 years ago, 19-Feb-00, to lugnet.starwars)
